The Magic of Dandelion Chicory ‘Coffee’

Coffee benefits have been debated for decades, whether or not you are in the camp for it or against it, even though studies suggest caffeine is a nootropic(meaning it may help enhance cognitive functions) some clients and I have benefitted from taking a break from coffee, and avoid it after 2 pm, as the caffeine rush comes with a crash in energy and insomnia.

As a coffee lover and a practitioner, I sought something as comforting, warming, and delicious as coffee but without caffeine. Dandelion coffee has nutritional benefits and tastes great without the jitters.

READ ABOUT THE LIVER HEALTH

No matter how conscientious we are of our health and lifestyle habits, our bodies move to the cycles of nature, which means that our cells mirror nature like leaves falling from a tree before they can regenerate and be renewed. We may support our bodies through this process each season by removing the buildup of toxins from exposure to our environment.   Enter an ancient practice followed by many wise traditions.  Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine offer the best practices by enhancing the body’s detoxification ability during seasonal transitions like Winter into Spring and Summer into Autumn. Before taking on a so-called detox program, please read more about detoxification pathways and how intricate the mechanisms are.

Dandelion Chicory Tea is safe, a daily do-no-harm practice anyone can enjoy to promote liver health. Preliminary studies suggest this is due, in part, to its ability to increase the flow of bile. Naturopaths believe it means that dandelion root tea could help detoxify the liver, help with skin and eye problems, and relieve symptoms of liver disease.

GOOD TO KNOW

Your liver influences your metabolism (sluggish, congested liver means SLOW metabolism)

Your liver impacts your gut health and probiotics (candida, parasites and other gut issues are worsened with a toxic liver)

Your liver determines the quality of your digestion (a “fatty” or congested liver is unable to secrete bile or properly digest foods)

The health of your liver even shows up on your face in terms of undereye circles… crow’s fit… liver spots, acne, blackheads, and other issues.

Bottom line: if you want the best possible health and to support your body’s transformation especially during seasonal transitions, I have a few colorful, nutrient-dense recipes to support liver detoxification.

Dandelion root is a delicious beverage that can be consumed daily for its medicinal properties.

The roots of young dandelion plants are roasted to a dark brown color. Then, after steeping in hot water and straining, it can be enjoyed as a coffee substitute.
