Cranberry Cacao Smoothie Bowl

Cranberries are an excellent source of whole food Vitamin C

Have you tried this colorful cranberry in your smoothies yet?  Fresh cranberries are full of potential beyond the Thanksgiving table rather than an afterthought for our leftover turkey sandwiches.  It is rarely consumed fresh due to its astringent tart taste.  For these reasons, we find them in our grocery stores canned, jellied, or dried and stripped of their nutritional value.  Fortunately, we can coach our palates to enjoy its unique taste in a smoothie bowl beyond the sugary sauces and sweet dried varieties. Once you go fresh, you’ll never again look at a dried cranberry as a food group.    I added Crucial Four’s breakfast to my bowl to boost its nutritional value with its pleasant cacao taste.  This is a colorful and flavorful way to enjoy cranberries, allowing us to change our nutrients with the changing seasons.

Makes 1 serving

¼ cup cranberries

½ cup steamed cauliflower (change up the habit of only using banana or avocado to thicken your shake)

2 Tablespoons cacao

1 Tablespoon Aloe Vera

1 Tablespoon of coconut oil

1 Tablespoon of ginger grated or less for preferred taste

2 Scoops of mbreakfast

1 cup nut milk of choice

Place wet ingredients first in a high-speed blender, followed by veggies and other nutrients for an effortless whirl.  Enjoy with shaved ice in a glass, add cauliflower for a thicker smoothie bowl, and top with your favorite variety of coconut flakes, nuts, nut butter, and whole fruit.

Cranberry Smoothie Benefits

These tart, brightly colored gems are a great source of vitamin C to help strengthen your immune system during the colder months and prevent seasonal colds and flu. They are also a great source of fiber, which aids in proper digestive function, which is another good reason to start your day with them in your smoothie. Cranberries have detoxifying properties that help the body eliminate toxins and relieve water retention and bloating.  One of the most challenging nutrients to get into our diets is potassium. We lose this vital mineral under any stress, plus even the most well-intentioned health gurus rarely meet the daily requirement of 4700mg. Cranberries are a good source of potassium that can help our dietary goals for better energy metabolism, balance hypertension, and fulfill our overall need for proper cell function.

It appears that their high levels of antioxidants called proanthocyanidins help reduce the adhesion of certain bacteria to urinary tract walls, which in turn can assist in reducing the incidence of UTIs.

Crucial Four MBreakfast for the Win!

Mbreakfast is a nutrient powerhouse blend of four missing food groups we rarely find in our eating habits.  I’m impressed with their formula of organic, wild-sourced herbs, algae, mushrooms, and biotic extracts that support our body’s innate healing. It’s an easy way to get various superfoods into your diet, especially on those busy days when we can’t stop our lives for an entire meal. I strongly advocate for whole foods, yet questions and answers about addressing nutrient deficiencies can be complicated. What I like most about breakfast is its one-stop-shop of bioavailable real food ingredients that can manage many of my client's nutritional deficiencies without swallowing 20+ supplements.  It is formulated to help our bodies heal innately by supporting our microbiome with prebiotics, increasing our intake of essential minerals, and supporting our adrenals to have the energy to digest our food.  I am confident of its integrity, leading to my becoming an affiliated practitioner.  You can read more about this innovative company here and use this CODE.

I always recommend trying something new in your everyday nutrition.  When we eat the same foods all the time, we don’t expose our bodies to enough nutrition, and by rotating our diets, we can get the most out of our foods.
